  • Go To The Beach

  • Fishing

    You can rent fishing gear and purchase bait at the Pompano Pier. A fishing license isn’t necessary to fish from the pier. There are also numerous fishing boat tours offered in the area.

  • Butterfly World

    Butterfly World is essentially a giant, tropical playground where you can wander through six massive aviaries and have thousands of butterflies fluttering right around your head. It’s the world’s largest butterfly park, but it feels like a hidden garden oasis with cascading waterfalls. Beyond the butterflies, you can hand-feed bright, nectar-loving lorikeets, walk across a swinging suspension bridge, or check out some wild-looking critters at the Live Bug Zoo.

  • Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

    Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is a 20-acre coastal gem in Boca Raton where you can dive into Florida’s marine life without ever getting wet. It’s famous for its sea turtle conservation. When you’re not hanging out by the outdoor aquariums, you can wander through a lush butterfly garden or hit the elevated boardwalk that winds through a rare tropical forest.     If you’re looking for a massive indoor playground in Fort Lauderdale, Xtreme Action Park is the spot to be! It’s a great place to escape the heat, or rain.

    Many shelters and rescues will allow you to walk dogs, and volunteer in other ways. My favorite program is Broward Buddies, where you can take a dog out of the shelter for a few hours, or multiple days. Explore town, go to the beach or a park with the dog. This is a program to help the dogs get more exposure.
